Where are your fire dampers?

Airmec field engineers sometimes spend as much time locating fire dampers as they do testing and fixing them, so the new BS 7974:2019 Application of Fire Safety Engineering Principles to the Design of Buildings – Code of Practice sounds like good news.

Publication of new British Standards helps to focus all our minds, and the greater emphasis that new standard places on the competency of fire engineers should give them a louder and more-influential voice when looking for budgets for testing compliance, refurbishment and replacement of out-of-sight, and all too often out-of-mind, fire dampers.

Additional recommendations are included on the quality assurance and verification of fire engineering reports.

So, if you’re not confident that your testing regime and/or asset registers are up to date and compliant, do get in touch and we’ll help you to plan and prioritise any necessary work. Sadly, finding dampers blocked open like this one is not uncommon!

Our London team enjoyed beautiful Spring views while installing sidestream filtration on closed loop systems.  Sidestream filtration solutions can provide lifespan system cleaning, avoiding the disruption, wastage and system downtime that more traditional cleaning methods involve, and with good like for like cost savings against alternative methods.  Ask us if it will work for your system.
