Our Health and Safety team – your site safety assurance

Congratulations to Will Griffiths, our in-house Health and Safety co-ordinator, who has gained the NEBOSH National General Certificate. NEBOSH is the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health, and its general certificate is proof that a holder can identify, evaluate, and control a wide range of workplace hazards, and it is trusted across all industries.

Will and our operations delivery supervisor Wayne Tyler support our operations teams to ensure that suitably trained, equipped, and qualified personnel arrive at our customers’ sites at the right time, and that all work is pre-planned and undertaken safely.
While Will co-ordinates all aspects of health and safety across our business, Wayne is responsible for compiling Risk Assessment Method Statements, including for specific, high-risk work activity such as working from a height or using specialist equipment. Tasks are broken down into steps, the hazards involved in each step are assessed, and then control measures are described in detail so that the resulting document can be easily followed by both Airmec operatives and our customers’ personnel.

Falls from height continue to be the main cause of workplace fatalities, and safe working is a top priority for Airmec. We are a member of CHAS, the UK’s leading provider of risk prevention, compliance and supply chain management services for clients and contractors and follows its guidance on best practice for RAMS.

Already a Gold member of Constructionline, showing customers that we have been subjected to increased scrutiny around governance and risk management, Airmec is about to be assessed for Constructionline Platinum recognition.

Congratulating Will, Airmec managing director Andrew Steel said: “The assurance of site safety is a critical part of our service. It is one thing to specify and quote for work, quite another to be able to give customers complete confidence about safe working. That’s why it so important to have an in-house team like Wayne and Will.

As a contractor working in restricted and sensitive areas for governmental, educational, industrial, life science and healthcare clients, we have to constantly review and manage the health and safety for each and every job that we do.”
