It’s good to see WorldVentil8 Day going from strength to strength. Taking place every year on 8th November, the campaign aims to raise awareness of the importance of ventilation as a crucial part of enabling the health and wellbeing of people.
It champions the importance of good design, but also reminds us of the year round need for professional cleaning and maintenance. It’s rarely a job that can be left to a general maintenance team, not least because of the complexity of the regulatory framework and the risk of getting it wrong, as the HSE has highlighted.
Cleaning and maintenance is rarely going to be ad hoc work, nor is it likely to be within the skillset of your general maintenance team. You will need specialist help.
Don’t forget that:
• Signing off and commissioning a compliant design is only a snapshot of one day. Things can change quickly with wear and tear, dirt, grime, failed fire dampers etc and even hindsight on installation methods.
• There are potentially huge cost savings from increased energy efficiency of clean systems, longer life of well-maintained systems and productivity of healthy, comfortable staff. Planned maintenance delivers RoI.
Planning the right, cost-effective regime for your premises is helped by having a good working knowledge of BS EN 15780, which helps us to categorise equipment according to actual use and likely contamination rates, so allowing for smarter cleaning scheduling.
The work starts with a visit from one of our surveyors who will advise on the frequency and scope of work. We will then schedule our visits around your work processes and undertake risk assessment and method statementing.
