The BSI (British Standards Institution) has developed water management standard updates for BS8580 on risk assessments for Pseudomonas aeruginosa and an update of BS7592.
Maintaining good water hygiene and being ready to act quickly on any changes mandated by the new standards will rely on you having a comprehensive understanding and record of your infrastructure. An up-to-date schematic informs your mandatory risk assessment, and enables you to plan and audit sampling and cleaning efficiently.
While the BS8580 revision and BS7592 revision standards address risks that are of particular concern in healthcare environments, any organisation will be affected by the new guidance which, being aligned with ACOP L8 Code of Practice will have legal status.
Post-pandemic there will be continuing emphasis on impeccable compliance in every aspect of building services hygiene. Will you be ready to act quickly when the new standards are published?
